·        LIFE TIES
Our story begins in small
town not well known, in which two young children lived on the streets,
homeless, without parents, although they were not brothers they were very
closed because of the harshness of life hit them since they were so young.
Every day they had to tour
the town to search of food and shelter.
Ona cold winter morning a
gentle, kind and caring woman saw the children wandering the streets and to see
the condition they were in broke her heart.
The woman aced them to come
over to her but the children approached tenderly to her and she said.
M- Poor little kids you
should be freezing and probably very hungry.
The 2 children nodded their
heads down, then the woman continued
M- You can come with me to my
house to eat something and to wear something warner
The children looked at each
other and it the end the said to woman.
C- Thanks… we will appreciate
it.
And the woman answered
M- Them follow me.
 The woman led the children to a small but nice
home, when they reached the door the woman ushered them into to small house,
inside she led them to the room and told them.
M- Wait here for coats and
clean clothes.
The woman left the room.
The children were still in
the room without saying anything as if they were paralyzed.
After 5 minutes that they
were eternal for them the woman arrived with a basket full of clean clothes.
They stared with a rare
expression and she said
M- Did the mouse eat your
tongue?
The children outlined a smile
smiled a she said smiling to them
M- Take, please what you like
when you finish you can watch TV and I go to prepare something to eat.
The woman went to the
kitchen, which was in the other room.
The children timidly when to
the basket with clothes and put what they most like when finished the woman was
still preparing the food and they sat in a large armchair and watched the box
to which the woman called TV, they were very unfamiliar with these things.
The woman noticed they did
not know it and came, put them a channel of cartoons and explain to them more
or less how to use it.
The children were mesmerized
by the TV, since the cartoon were fun.
After a while the woman call
the and turned off the TV, the children, went to the kitchen which had a
delicious smell
In the kitchen there was a
dining table with 3 chairs, a stove, a refrigerator and more things that have a
kitchen on the table there were 2 plates full of something that the children
hadn’t ever seen.
The woman noticed it an told
them.
M- it is meat with sauce and
rice. My mother prepared it when I was little and I really like it, I hope you
like it too.
The children took a chair and
sat down.
They were hungry and took the
silverware without thinking twice and began to eat.
When they finished the woman
picked up the dishes and told them they could continue watching TV while she
washed the dishes, excited the children ran to keep watching cartoons but they
came back and told the woman…
2K- Thanks, it was delicious.
The woman smiled and said.
M- You’re welcome children.
 The children blushed to ear this and went to
the room and smiled crestfallen.
After a while the woman
finished in the kitchen and went with the kids to the room and sat down with
them to watch TV.
Then suddenly she asked them.
M- by the way, what´s your
name?
The children looked at each other
and said
C- Cristofer.
And the other children did
the same.
D- My name is Diego.
The woman smiled and said.
M- What cute names.
And again the 2 kids just
smiled without knowing what to say.
And they continued watching
TV after watching two movies and several cartoons it caricatures began to
beadle one of them said.
C- We have to go.
The woman asked them to hear
this
M- Where are you going?
One of them answered
D- We have to look for a
place to sleep.
The woman shuddered at
hearing this and told them.
M- You can stay here as long
as you want some company, I’ve been alone for a long time….. You do not have to
return to the street, you can stay with me.
Children were so identified
with the woman that smiling happily and ran to hug the woman. That night the 2
children knew what it was to live in a home, sheltered, and a bed.
They also learned what the
love of a mother.
Time went through the
children grew up. They entered school, helped her mother and had a happy life
they were very happy.
20 YEARS LATER
The 2 street children that
were collected by a kind woman had left their childhood behind and became man
who finished is studies and went to different places to work and earn a living.
Of course they did not leave
is mom alone.
Diego got a job in that town
and Cristofer stayed to take care at the mom.
A day mom was buying the
ingredients for the meal in a small shop, while she was choosing some carrots.
Two armed man entered to the store carrying a bag for the money they plane to
steal went straight to the cash register, then the cashier began to put the
money while the man pointed at him with a gun.
The other man ran the shop
for valuable items.
Mama went bravely to the box
slowly and try to reason with the thief saying.
M- Soon the thief gave him a
menacing look do not have to do this, you have a life ahead, not made to lose
this way.
The thief was coming down
slowly as if afraid weapon.
Suddenly a loud sound that
deafened those in the shop heard.
The other man had fired his
gun pointed at the head of the woman.
Mom fell, lifeless, blood
pouring through the hole where the bullet impact.
The murderer told the thief.
L- What´s wrong? The cashier
call the police.
The two men went to the
cashier who just hid the phone.
The murderer looked at her
and said.
L- We cannot have witnesses,
babe.
He put a gun to her head and
pulled the trigger.
The man ran out of the place
they got into a car and escaped.
5:00 P.M. MOTHER’S HOUSE
Someone knocked on the door.
Cristofer stopped watching TV
to open the door and realized that something happened because an official was
who woman knocked on the door.
P- Good afternoon.
C- Good evening officer
what´s happening?
The official took out his hat
and asked.
P- May I come in?
At that time Diego had just
parked his car and was worried about going fast toward the door saying.
D- What is happening?
The official without knowing
what to say take a picture of his jacket and showed.
It was a picture of the
woman, Cristofer and Diego recognized her instantly froze and asked the officer.
D &C- what happened to
mom?
The police took a deep breath
and stammered.
P-…They fired… and she was
killed.
The policeman lowered is
head, and continued.
P- It was an assault to a
store and she it was there then we do not know what has happened, we are reviewing
security cameras and the forensic began to check your mother for clues… I’m
sorry gentleman.
He put on his hat and said.
P- Good afternoon.
And he left.
The two brothers remained in
the doorway, not knowing what to do.
Cristofer suddenly burst into
tears.
And Diego took him to the
house.
D- Cristofer…- Diego said
with voice shakily-… We need to know who was… and avenge us.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE TECHNOLOGYCAL ADVANCES
There is no doubt that scientific advances depend not only on new ideas, conceptual leaps and paradigm shifts, but also to a large extent on technological advances that make these steps possible.
The discovery of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) increasingly sophisticated microscopes, and the development of in vitro assays that faithfully reproduce cellular functions are just a few examples of technical advances that have spurred on many areas of cell biology. Technologies that are easily adapted to simple and affordable everyday use in the laboratory have certainly changed the speed of scientific progress.
The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology, for example- the simple elegance of which made many of us regret not having thought of it ourselves- has quickly evolved to the point where PCR machines are part of the standard laboratory equipment without which many experiments would be immensely time- consuming or simply not possible.
The importance of access to technological know-how is also reflected in the job market.
Researchers who can bring new techniques to an institute are well sought after, just has the availability of techniques and services facilities makes a research institute more attractive to scientist.
And it moves
It is perhaps modern imaging technologies that have had the biggest impact on the field of cell biology, and will unquestionably continue to do so. The trend is to label and monitor cells, organelles and molecules and their interaction, using increasingly sophisticated tools, in real time.
Not a meeting goes by without someone presenting a movie of their favorite protein dashing around a cell (sometimes even screened along with matching music), and these images are beginning to change our views of the dynamic nature of some of the most fundamental cell biological processes (See, for example, page 156 of these issue  ).

WHAT IS SCIENCE & TECNOLOGY STUDIES?
A light of the importance of science and technology (S&T) in the world today, there is a need for scholarly work on its social dimensions. The Department of Science & Technology Studies is dedicated to research and teaching about scientific knowledge and technology in its social context. In their research, faculty members examine S&T both in contemporary societies and through historical investigations. The goal is to build a body of theory and empirical findings about:
The social processes through which scientific and technical knowledge—whether packaged into texts, people, machines, images, or other forms—is created, evaluated, challenged, spread, transformed, and fitted into social relations.
The ways people use, reconfigure, and contest scientific knowledge and technology.
The normative issues entangled in scientific and technological developments.
The place of science and technology in the modern world. 
Through its teaching as well as its research, the department is playing a notable role in building the emerging discipline of Science & Technology Studies (STS). Founded in 1991, the department has an internationally-known Ph.D. Program devoted to training students to conduct advanced research. It also has two undergraduate majors, Biology & Society and Science & Technology Studies. 
The Biology & Society Major is designed for students who wish to combine training in biology with exposure to perspectives from the social sciences and humanities on the social, political and ethical aspects of modern biology.  This major is intended for students who have an interest in law, medicine, health services administration and other professional schools and for preparation for graduate programs in various fields.
The Science & Technology Studies Major furthers students’ understanding of the social and cultural meanings of science and technology.  It is ideal for students pursuing careers in law, public policy or management, as well as for scientists, engineers and others interested in science, technology and society.
The Minor in Science & Technology Studies also offers a way for undergraduates specializing in other fields to gain an appreciation for the social dimensions of science and technology.

These three keywords, science, art and technology are linked to specific activities of man and inextricably linked to the development of civilization. We will try to clarify the concepts of these three terms, covering both activities (research, development, execution) and the resulting product (knowledge, goods, services), which are a result of responses to the concerns and needs of man. This means that for man the world is the subject of inquiry and action. Considering this, we can talk about two very interlinked but substantially different fields linked to human activity: the field of science (inquiry) and the field of art and technology (stock) .The field This field science responds to the human desire to know and rationally understand the world around him and the phenomena associated therewith, desire that leads to scientifically investigate. Normally, the result of scientific research increases the body methodically formed and systematized knowledge. This human activity (scientific research) and the resulting product (scientific knowledge) is what we call science .In this field, motivation is the craving for knowledge, research activities and the resulting product is scientific knowledge. This field responds to the human desire to know and rationally understand the world around him and the phenomena associated therewith, desire that leads to scientifically investigate. Normally, the result of scientific research increases the body methodically formed and systematized knowledge .This human activity (scientific research) and the resultant product (scientific knowledge) is what we call science .In this field, motivation is the thirst for knowledge, the activity is research and the resulting product is scientific knowledge.
